2025 Candidate Biography

Board of Directors

Patricia Jacob (Incumbent) - I have been a resident in Saginaw my whole life and have been a member of this credit union for almost as long. I worked at Great Lakes Bancorp as a teller and in the mortgage records department. From there I worked for 19 years until my retirement from the Saginaw Public Schools. I have been married for almost 55 years. I have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. I have been on the Board of Directors since 2016 and look forward to continuing to serve Family First credit union with pride and devotion.

Carl McCaskey - Minister Carl McCaskey is a humble man of God. He and his wife, Alice, have been married for 43 years and have six anointed children. Carl is a loving husband, father and grandfather. For 21 years, Carl has been preaching the Gospel, adhering to the traditional Baptist doctrine outlined in the Baptist Faith & Message, and reaching out to the lost world with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Currently, Carl serves as an associate minister at Candlelight Baptist Church. His responsibilities include being the minister of music, teaching Sunday School, leading and directing the church choir, and playing various musical instruments, such as the piano and organ. Carl is also a talented songwriter and musician, having participated in several musical groups dedicated to praising the Lord. His goals are to excel in the various roles assigned to him in the church, including minister of music, choir director, musician, singer, preacher, and teacher. Through these roles, Carl aims to communicate spiritual principles that inspire behavioral changes in individuals regarding their relationship with God. Carl has been a member of Family First CU for over 30 years.

Maurice Patterson (Incumbent) - I have been a member of Family First Credit Union (Saginaw Municipal Employees Credit Union) since 1984. I served 28 years on the City of Saginaw Fire Department retiring as a Battalion Chief in 2012. I was an active member of the Firefighters Union, Local 102, as a member of the Executive Board, serving as station steward, unit director, Local 102  Recording Secretary for 5 years and 9 years as Union President. I am married to Atonya for the past 25 years. We have 4 children and eleven grandchildren. Here at Family First, I previously served on the Credit Committee for 3 terms. I now serve on the Business Loan Committee, Financial Committee, Website Committee and presently serve as Board of Directors Chairperson, for the past 9 years. I strongly support the strategic objectives and goals of our credit union and believe I can continue to make a positive contribution to the Board of Directors. Thank You for your continued support.

Supervisory Commitee

Floyd Kloc (Incumbent) - Floyd was appointed in mid-2018 to fill a vacancy on the Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee, was elected to a full 3-year term in 2019 and is now seeking re-election. He has completed the Credit Union National Association’s BSA and OFAC Compliance for Volunteers for Supervisory Committee members. He is a 1973 graduate of Saginaw Valley College, now SVSU, and a 1978 graduate of the University of Detroit Law School. He has been a member of the Credit Union since he was hired to work in the Saginaw City Attorney’s office in 1979. He left that position in July 1988 to start his own private law practice at an office on State Street in the City. He continued in private practice there until the end of 2020 when he retired. He lives in the city with his wife Diane, a retired Saginaw Career Complex (SCC) teacher. He has three grown children and two grandchildren. He is a former Mayor of the City of Saginaw, having been elected to City Council In 2011, then re-elected in 2016 when he also became Mayor-Pro-Tem, and was subsequently elected Mayor in 2018. He retired from City Council at the end of his term in late 2020. He is a 45-year member and past President of the Kiwanis Club of Saginaw and has served on its charitable Foundation Board since 1996. He is a 30 year member and past president of the Saginaw Symphony Association, and a 37-year member and past president of the Historical Society of Saginaw County. He currently serves as a member of the Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Service Board (STARS), as well as on other City commissions. 

Buford Gaiter Jr. - I’m a past member of the Family First CU Credit Committee. I’m a lifelong resident of Saginaw, and I’m a graduate of Saginaw High School, class of 1973. I’m retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. My career started at Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry, followed by Shreveport Truck Assembly, then the Flint Truck Assembly, then back to the Foundry, until finally retiring from Saginaw Delphi Automotive. During my time at Delphi I was a coordinator of the larges production line in Plant 5. For my last 10 years of service, I had an appointed job by the Union as a Facilitator/Trainer for the Delphi Complex. I facilitated meetings between top Union and top management, and also taught training classes. I’m a member of the Prince of Peace Baptist Church, where I am a Trustee, President of our Laymen, and Treasurer of Sunday school. I’m a past National Board Member of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. (AAHGS). I’m currently the Chairperson of the Class of 1973 Scholarship Committee, and on the Scholarship Committee at church, additionally I give personal scholarships to the graduates at my church. I’m also on the Scholarship Committee for our Credit Union. One of my favorite hobbies for over 50 years has been researching ancestry, genealogy and family history. It would be an honor and a privilege to be elected to the Supervisory Committee so I can be a part of building our Credit Union to its next level of success.   

Vicki Hill - I commenced my financial career in 1978 at Family Federal Savings and Loan, initially serving as a mail clerk before progressing to the role of teller. In 1988, I transitioned to Saginaw Medical Credit Union, where I continued my career as a teller, which also involved auditing cash received from Brinks. I dedicated nine years to Saginaw Medical Credit Union before moving to Catholic Federal Credit Union, now known as Jolt Credit Union. There, I began as a teller, advanced to the position of loan officer, and ultimately served as Branch Manager. After a fulfilling 29-year career, I retired in October 2023. Throughout my various roles, I held significant responsibilities towards both members and staff. Additionally, I serve as the Vice President of a non-profit organization called Women of Colors, where I have been active for 15 years, contributing to a diverse group of women committed to making a positive impact in our communities. Furthermore, I am a radio personality at Alpha Media (Kiss 107.1) in Saginaw. I possess extensive experience in customer service and staff management, and I am confident in my ability to contribute positively to Family First Credit Union. Finally, I serve as a board member on the Temple Theaters Board.

Tarsha Works (Incumbent) - Owner and operator of (TWC) Tarsha Works Consulting LLC, a full-service business professional firm with more than 25 plus years of experience. Business Consultant & Facilitator for the Saginaw Chamber of Commerce Momentum Program, a mentorship program, where I present business workshops and seminars to the Minority & Women Owned Businesses. Also, Facilitator for The Flint Development Centers Entrepreneurship Programs. Serves as Case Manager and Recruiter for AFL-CIO - WorkForce Development Apprenticeship Readiness Program. Been on FFCU’s Supervisory Committee for a year and a half. In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading, attending concerts and art shows. I also enjoy writing books, sewing and making arts and crafts.
